YAY! My very first donation to Extreme Makeover: Tiny Home Edition!

I just received my very first donation towards my "Extreme Makeover: Tiny Home Edition" via PayPal tonight for $25 and want to thank my friend Michelle P. (she will remain anonymous for the time being) for being the first one to get the ball rolling! I am hoping and praying this will gain momentum soon with shares all over Facebook and beyond.

I am also hoping this will be the start of a trend all over the United States and beyond for people who are in dire need of housing, yet cannot afford to buy or even rent in some areas, especially on the East and West coasts where the cost of living is way out in the stratosphere and therefore completely out of reach for those folks.

In this dismal economy, where thousands, if not millions, of people are still being foreclosed on and callously thrown out into the streets by Wall Street banking behemoths like Wells "Fraudgo", Bank of America, IndyMac, and others, having a roof over one's head has taken on a far greater urgency than ever before, and building tiny homes on wheels would be an awesome and very inexpensive way to punch a sizable dent in the problem of homelessness, particularly for couples and singles who have little in the way of material possessions.

As I said in my video on Indiegogo, this tiny house I'm going to be buying very soon, most likely next week, doesn't look like much at first glance, but the more you look, it just grows on you and you begin to see the infinite possibilities it presents. I love the beautiful etched glass windows for one thing, and I like it that it has a real flight of stairs, not a ladder which is a real pain in the ____ to climb up. I should know-- when I was living in the group home in Long Beach, I had the upper bunk and climbing up and down that vertical ladder was a struggle for me every single time, especially if I had to get up in the middle of the night to go potty.

Another thing I like about this tiny house is the loft, which doesn't have the typical peaked roof as so many other tiny houses have. This allows me to finish it any way I want as my bedroom, with built-in storage units, shelving and so on. The area that goes towards the big picture window at the end past the stairs, I want to make my office/studio where I can do my writing and graphics projects. I love the fact that it'll be right by that big window and I'll have lots of light coming in through there, plus it'll give me scenery to gaze out at. The more I think about it, the more excited I am about the whole thing!

I still, however, have not given up on the idea of getting my home back in Olathe, considering that I was wrongfully evicted through gross abuse of power by the city. If by some miracle that does happen, I intend to keep this tiny home and use it as a retreat/summer getaway somewhere, like South Carolina, the Oregon coast or southern California-- or rent it out very cheaply to a needy individual or couple who have fallen on hard times and who need a roof over their heads to get back on their feet.

With that, I shall say goodnight to all, and again, a huge thank you to my friend Michelle for kick-starting the funding towards my EM:THE campaign! :-)
